The Messenger of Allah ﷺ slaughtered his sacrificial animal, then said, "Thawban, prepare the meat of this." I kept feeding him from it until he arrived in Medina.In another narration, it adds, "during the Farewell Pilgrimage."
ذبح رسول الله ﷺ ضحيته ثم قال: يا ثوبان أصلح لحم هذه فلم أزل أطعمه منها حتى قدم المدينة. وزاد في رواية: في حجة الوداع.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Sacrifices (35:1975), from Zuhayr bin Harb, who said, Maen bin Isa narrated to us, who said, Muawiya bin Salih narrated to us, from Abu Zahiriya, from Jubayr bin Nufayr, from Thawban, and he related it.The addition is in the narration of Zubaydi, from Abdul-Rahman bin Jubayr bin Nufayr, from his father, with the same wording.
