The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I had forbidden you from keeping the meat of the sacrifices beyond three days so that those of means could share with those who had none. Now eat what you wish, feed others, and store what you like."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: كنت نهيتكم عن لحوم الأضاحي فوق ثلاث ليتسع ذو الطول على من لا طول له، فكلوا ما بدا لكم وأطعموا وادخروا.
Tirmidhi (1510) narrated it via Abu Asim Nabeel (who is Dahhak bin Makhlad), and Imam Ahmad (23016) narrated it from Muammal, both of them from Sufyan Thawri, from Alqama bin Marthad, from Sulayman bin Burayda, from his father, and he related it.The wording given here is that of Tirmidhi. In Ahmad's version it appears at greater length, mentioning the visiting of graves and also the matter of vessels, and there it appears as "from Ibn Burayda" without him being named.Muslim also narrated it, following the previously mentioned hadith of Abu Sinan, but he did not give its full text, saying instead, "He related it with the same meaning as the hadith of Abu Sinan," and there it appears as "from Ibn Burayda."
