Jabir said, "We used to refrain from eating the meat of our sacrificial camels for more than three days at Mina, but the Messenger of Allah ﷺ permitted us, saying, 'Eat from it and take provisions with you.'"I asked Ata, "Did Jabir say, 'until we reached Madinah'?"He replied, "Yes."In another narration, he said, "No."
كنا لا نأكل من لحوم بدننا فوق ثلاث منى، فأرخص لنا رسول الله ﷺ فقال: كلوا وتزودوا. قلت لعطاء: قال جابر: حتى جئنا المدينة؟ قال: نعم. وفي رواية: لا.
Bukhari narrated it in Hajj (1719), and Muslim in Sacrifices (30:1972), both from Yahya bin Saeed, from Ibn Jurayj, who said, Ata told us, he said, I heard Jabir bin Abdullah say, and then he mentioned it. The wording given is Muslim's, and the other narration is Bukhari's.
