The Prophet ﷺ said, "The first thing we will do on this day of ours is pray, then return and sacrifice. Whoever does this has followed our practice, and whoever slaughtered beforehand has merely offered meat to his family, with nothing of the sacrificial rite in it."Abu Burda bin Niyar, who had already slaughtered, stood up and said, "I have a young goat."He replied, "Slaughter it, but it will not suffice for anyone after you."
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Sacrifices (5545), and Muslim in the Book of Sacrifices (7:1961), both of them through the route of Muhammad bin Bashshar, with Muslim adding, and Muhammad bin Muthanna, they said, Muhammad bin Jafar Ghundar narrated to us, Shubah narrated to us, from Zubayd Ayami, from Shaybi, from Bara, who mentioned it.
