A man slaughtered his sacrifice before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed the prayer on the Day of Sacrifice. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "It does not count for you."The man said, "Messenger of Allah, I have a young goat."He replied, "It will suffice for you, but it will not suffice for anyone after you."
أن رجلا ذبح قبل أن يصلي رسول الله ﷺ يوم النحر، فقال رسول الله ﷺ: لا يجزئ عنك فقال: يا رسول الله إن عندي جذعة؟ قال: تجزي عنك ولا تجزي بعدك.
Abu Yaala (897) and Tabarani in Al-Kabir (22/108) both narrated it through the route of Ubaydullah bin Musa, who said, Abdul-Jabbar bin Abbas narrated to us, from Awn bin Abu Juhayfa, from his father, and he related it.Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Abdul-Jabbar bin Abbas Kufi, for his hadith is hasan, and the rest of its narrators are trustworthy. Ubaydullah bin Musa is the son of Abu Mukhtar, Abu Muhammad Kufi.Haythami attributed it in Al-Majma (4/24) to Abu Yaala and Tabarani, and said, "All of its narrators are trustworthy."
