Abu Burda slaughtered before the prayer, so the Prophet ﷺ said to him, "Replace it."He said, "I have nothing but a young goat."Shuba said, I think he said, "It is better than a mature one."The Prophet ﷺ said, "Offer it in its place, but it will not suffice for anyone after you."
ذبح أبو بردة قبل الصلاة، فقال له النبي ﷺ: أبدلها قال: ليس عندي إلا جذعة- قال شعبة: وأحسبه قال: هي خير من مسنة- قال: اجعلها مكانها، ولن تجزئ عن أحد بعدك.
Bukhari narrated it in Adahi (5557), and Muslim in Adahi (9:1961), both from Muhammad bin Bashshar, who said, Muhammad bin Jafar told us, who said, Shuba told us, from Salama, from Abu Juhayfa, from Bara, who mentioned it.
