A woman from Banu Sulaym, who had served as midwife to most of the people of our household, told me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent for Uthman bin Talha. On another occasion she said that she had asked Uthman bin Talha, "Why did the Prophet ﷺ summon you?"He replied, "The Prophet ﷺ said to me, 'When I entered the House, I noticed the ram's horns, and I forgot to instruct you to cover them. Cover them, for nothing should remain in the House that might distract a person at prayer.'"
Reported by Abu Dawud (2030) and Ahmad (16637) - and the wording here is his - through the route of Sufyan (he is Ibn Uyayna), Mansur narrated to me, from his maternal uncle Musafi, from Safiya bint Shayba, and he mentioned it. Its chain of transmission is sahih. Mansur is Ibn Abdul-Rahman bin Talha bin Harith al-Abdari al-Hajabi al-Makki, and he is the son of Safiya bint Shayba. Musafi is Ibn Abdullah bin Shayba bin Uthman al-Hajabi al-Makki.
