The Prophet ﷺ forbade making vows and said, "It does not turn back anything, but it only extracts something from the miser." In another wording, "from the stingy."
نهى النبي ﷺ عن النذر وقال: إنه لا يرد شيئا ولكنه يستخرج به من البخيل وفي لفظ: من الشحيح.
Bukhari narrated it in "Oaths and Vows" (6693), and Muslim in "Vows" (2:1639), both through the route of Mansur, who said, Abdullah bin Mura informed us, from Abdullah bin Umar, and he mentioned it.
