I heard the Prophet ﷺ say, "Shall I not tell you about the people of Paradise? Every weak person who is regarded as lowly. If he were to swear an oath by Allah, Allah would fulfill it for him. And the people of the Fire are every harsh, greedy, arrogant person."
سمعت النبي ﷺ يقول: ألا أدلكم على أهل الجنة؟ كل ضعيف متضعف، لو أقسم على الله لأبره، وأهل النار: كل جواظ عتل مستكبر.
Bukhari related it in the Book of Oaths and Vows (6657), and Muslim related it in the Book of Paradise (2853), both through the route of Shubah, "Mabad bin Khalid narrated to me that he heard Haritha bin Wahb," and he related it.His saying, "every weak one," means poor. "Downtrodden" means people consider him weak and look down on him. "If he swore an oath to Allah, He would fulfill it for him," means if he swore an oath about something, hoping in Allah's generosity that He would fulfill it for him, Allah would fulfill it and bring it about for his sake. "Al-Jawwaz" is one who walks with a proud, swaggering gait.
