The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to urge charity in his sermons and forbid the mutilation of bodies.
كان رسول الله ﷺ يحث في خطبته على الصدقة، وينهى عن المثلة.
Nasai (4047) narrated it from Muhammad bin Muthanna, who said, Abdul-Samad told us, who said, Hisham (that is, Dastawai) told us, from Qatada, from Anas, and he mentioned it.Abu Dawud (4368) narrated it through another route from Hisham with his chain in the story of Urayna, adding, then he forbade mutilation. Its chain is sahih.Abu Dawud's mention of the prohibition of mutilation in the story of Urayna indicates that Qatada would sometimes narrate it as connected and sometimes as a balagh. This differs from Ibn Hajar, who holds that the prohibition of mutilation is an insertion, and that Qatada did not narrate this portion of the hadith with a connected chain from Anas.
