Bukhari reported it in the Hudud (7) from Suhayl bin Abu Salih, from his father, from Abu Hurairah, as mentioned above. Muslim also reported it in the Liaan (15:1498) through Malik with the same wording.On this subject, it is reported that Saad bin Ubada, when the verse on the hudud punishments was revealed, and he was a jealous man, said, "What do you think, if you found a man with your wife, what would you do?" He said, "I would strike them both with the sword. Should I wait until I bring four witnesses, by which time he would already have done what he wanted and gone off? Or should I say, 'I saw such and such,' and then you would flog me for it and never accept my testimony again?"He said, this was mentioned to the Prophet ﷺ, and he said, "The sword is witness enough." Then he said, "No, I fear that this would become common practice among the drunk and the jealous."Ibn Majah reported it (2606) from Ali bin Muhammad, who said, Waki narrated to us, from Fadl bin Dalham, from Hasan, from Qabisa bin Hurayth, from Salama bin Muhabbiq, who said, it was said to Abu Thabit Saad bin Ubada, when the verse on the hudud punishments was revealed, as mentioned above.Its chain of transmission is daif for several reasons. Among them, Fadl bin Dalham Wasiti the butcher is daif. Among them also, his teacher Hasan, who is Hasan Basri, is a mudallis and he narrated with an ambiguous form of transmission (anana). And among them also, his teacher Qabisa bin Hurayth Ansari Basri, of whom Bukhari said, "There is something questionable in his hadith," and Nasai said, "His hadith is not sound."
