We were presented to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the day of Qurayzah. Whoever had grown pubic hair was killed, and whoever had not was set free. I was among those who had not grown any, so I was set free.In another narration, "They uncovered my pubic area and found that I had not grown any hair, so they placed me among the captives."
Reported by Abu Dawud (4404), Tirmidhi (1584), Ibn Majah (2541), and Nasai (4981), and Ibn Hibban (4780) and Hakim (3/35) graded it sahih, all of them through various routes from Abdul-Malik bin Umayr, who said, I heard Atiya Qurazi say, then he related it.Its chain is hasan because of Abdul-Malik bin Umayr Lakhmi, for his hadith is hasan. Tirmidhi said, Hasan sahih. He also said, "The practice among some scholars is that they consider the growth of pubic hair to indicate puberty when neither nocturnal emission nor age is known, and this is the view of Ahmad and Ishaq."
