The Prophet ﷺ said, "It is not fitting for any servant to say, 'I am better than Yunus bin Matta.'"
عن النبي ﷺ قال: لا ينبغي لعبد أن يقول: أنا خير من يونس بن متى.
Bukhari related it in the chapters on the Prophets (3416), and Muslim in the Virtues (2376), both from the hadith of Shubah, from Saad bin Ibrahim, "I heard Humayd bin Abdul-Rahman," from Abu Hurairah, and he mentioned the hadith. In another version, "Whoever says, 'I am better than Yunus bin Matta,' has lied." Bukhari related it (4604) through another route from Abu Hurairah.
