Some of the Ansar reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ upheld the practice of Qassama as it had been observed during the days of ignorance. In another narration it adds, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ruled by it between some people of the Ansar concerning a slain man whose killing they attributed to the Jews.
من الأنصار، أن رسول الله ﷺ أقر القسامة على ما كانت عليه في الجاهلية. وزاد في رواية: وقضى بها رسول الله ﷺ بين ناس من الأنصار في قتيل ادعوه على اليهود.
Muslim narrated it in Qasama (1670) via Yunus, from Ibn Shihab, who said, Abu Salama bin Abdul-Rahman and Sulayman bin Yasar, the freedman of Maymuna, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, informed me, from a man among the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he related it.The addition comes from the narration of Ibn Jurayj, who said, Ibn Shihab narrated to us with this same chain. Muslim also narrated it via Salih bin Kaysan from Ibn Shihab, and Uzai followed them as recorded by Nasai, as did Aqeel bin Khalid Ayli as recorded by Ahmad (16598). All of these narrated it from Ibn Shihab with his chain connected through a man from the Ansar.Maamar differed from them, narrating it from Zuhri from Saeed bin Musayab in similar fashion but as a mursal narration. Abdul-Razzaq narrated it (18252), and Nasai (4709) narrated it through his route. The ruling follows the majority.
