The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ruled that retaliation applies in the case of a tooth, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The Book of Allah prescribes retaliation."
أن رسول الله ﷺ قضى بالقصاص في السن، وقال رسول الله ﷺ: كتاب الله القصاص.
Nasai (4752), Ibn Abu Asim in al-Diyat (126), and Ibn Jarud (841) all narrated it from the hadith of Abu Khalid Sulayman bin Hayan, who said, "Humayd narrated to us, from Anas," and he related it as mentioned. This is an abridged version of the story of Rubayyi, the sister of Anas bin Nadr. His saying, "The Book of Allah decrees retaliation," refers to the verse of the Almighty mentioned above. This contains evidence that the laws revealed to those before us are binding upon us as well, so long as nothing has come to abrogate them.
