An effeminate man whose hands and feet were dyed with henna was brought to the Prophet ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "What is the matter with this one?"It was said, "Messenger of Allah, he imitates women."So he ordered that he be banished to Naqi.They said, "Messenger of Allah, shall we not kill him?"He replied, "I have been forbidden from killing those who pray."
أن النبي ﷺ أتي بمخنث قد خضب يديه، ورجليه بالحناء، فقال رسول الله ﷺ: ما بال هذا؟ فقيل: يا رسول الله يتشبه بالنساء، فأمر به فنفي إلى النقيع. قالوا: يا رسول الله ألا نقتله. قال: إني نهيت عن قتل المصلين
Reported by Abu Dawud (4928), Abu Yaala (6126), and Bayhaqi (8/222), all of them through the hadith of Abu Usama, who informed them, from Mufaddal bin Yunus, from Uzai, from Abu Yasar Qurashi, from Abu Hashim, from Abu Hurairah, who related it. Its chain is hasan because of Abu Yasar and his teacher Abu Hashim, for both of them make the hadith hasan.On this subject there is also what Abu Yaala (88) reported from Abu Bakr, and what Ahmad (22154), Tabarani in al-Kabir (8057), and Bukhari in Adab al-Mufrad (163) reported from Abu Umama, though both of their chains contain weakness. Even though Haythami said in al-Majmu (4/237) regarding the hadith of Abu Umama, "Reported by Ahmad, and its pivot rests on Abu Ghalib, who is trustworthy but has also been graded daif," the correct view is that it is daif. Abu Hatim and Nasai graded him daif, and Ibn Hibban said in al-Majruhin (1/267), "His hadiths are unusual despite their scarcity, and it is not permissible to rely on him except in what agrees with the trustworthy narrators."
