Bukhari narrated it in two places, in the Partnership chapter (2481) from Musaddad, who said, "Yahya bin Saeed told us," and in the Marriage chapter (5225) from Ali, who said, "Ibn Ulaya told us." Both of them narrated from Humayd, from Anas, who related it.As for what Imran bin Khalid Wasiti narrated, from Thabit, from Anas, who said, "The Prophet was in Ayesha's house, with his companions present, when Hafsa sent over a bowl, and Ayesha broke it."Abu Zura said, "This is a mistake. Hammad bin Salama narrated it, from Thabit, from Abu Mutawakkil, that the Prophet ﷺ." He said, "And this is the sahih version." Ilal (1/466), meaning the mursal version, but this mursal does not undermine what is established as sahih. This story has other chains of transmission, but none of them are sound except the one I have mentioned.Among them is what Sharik narrated, from Qays bin Wahb, from a man of Bani Sawaa, who said, "I asked Ayesha about the character of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and she said, 'Do you not read the Quran? "And indeed, you are of a great moral character" [Qalam 68:4].'"He said, "I said, 'Tell me about that.'" She said, "I made food for him, and Hafsa also made food for him, so I said to my maid, 'Go, and if she comes with the food and sets it down before mine, throw the food away.'" She said, "So she came with the food." She said, "The maid threw it, and the bowl fell and broke, and there was a leather mat under it." She said, "So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gathered it up and said, 'Retaliate' or 'Retaliate,'" (Aswad was uncertain about the wording), "'with a vessel in place of your vessel.'" And he said nothing more.Ahmad narrated it (24800) from Aswad, who said, "Sharik told us," and related it. Ibn Abu Shayba also narrated it (14/214), and from him Ibn Majah (2333) narrated it, saying, "Sharik bin Abdullah told us," with a similar chain. In it, Sharik bin Abdullah has poor memory, and the successor is also unknown. Busiri criticized it on this basis in Zawaid bin Majah.
