The Prophet ﷺ said, "The best of you are my generation, then those who follow them, then those who follow them."Imran said, "I do not recall whether the Prophet ﷺ mentioned two generations or three after his own."The Prophet ﷺ said, "After you will come a people who betray and cannot be trusted, who give testimony without being asked, who make vows but do not fulfill them, and among whom obesity will appear."
قال النبي ﷺ: خيركم قرني ثم الذين يلونهم ثم الذين يلونهم، قال عمران: لا أدري، أذكر النبي ﷺ بعد قرنين أو ثلاثة، قال النبي ﷺ: إن بعدكم قوما يخونون ولا يؤتمنون، ويشهدون ولا يستشهدون، وينذرون ولا يفون، ويظهر فيهم السمن.
Bukhari related it in "Testimonies" (2651), and Muslim in "The Virtues of the Companions" (2535:214), both through the route of Shubah, who said, I heard Abu Hamza, who said, Zahdam bin Mudarrib narrated to me, saying, I heard Imran bin Husayn, and he related it.
