The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A woman must not mourn for any deceased person more than three days, except for a husband, for whom she mourns four months and ten days. During this period she must not wear dyed clothing, except a garment of asb fabric, nor apply kohl, nor touch perfume, except when she purifies herself at the end of her menstrual period, when she may use a small amount of qust and azfar."
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Menstruation (313), and Muslim in the Book of Divorce (938), both from the hadith of Hisham bin Hassan, from Hafsa, from Umm Atiya, who related it.
