She heard Umar bin Khattab and Ubayy bin Kaab disputing, so Umm Tufayl said, "Why does Umar bin Khattab not ask Subayah al-Aslamiyyah? Her husband died while she was pregnant, and she gave birth a few days later, then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ married her off."
إنها سمعت عمر بن الخطاب وأبي بن كعب يختصمان، فقالت أم الطفيل: أفلا يسأل عمر بن الخطاب سبيعة الأسلمية؟ توفي عنها زوجها وهي حامل، فوضعت بعد ذلك بأيام، فأنكحها رسول الله ﷺ.
Ahmad narrated it (27109) from Yahya bin Ishaq and Qutayba bin Saeed, who said, Ibn Lahia narrated to us, from Bukayr bin Abdullah bin Ashaj, from Busr bin Saeed, who said, I heard Umm Tufayl, and he mentioned it.Its chain is hasan on account of Ibn Lahia, for Qutayba bin Saeed heard from him before his confusion set in.
