The Quran was sent down all at once on Laylat al-Qadr to the lowest heaven, where it was placed at the positions of the stars. Then Allah revealed it to His Messenger piece by piece.
في قوله تعالى: {إنا أنزلنه في ليلة القدر}
أنزل القرآن جملة واحدة في ليلة القدر إلى السماء الدنيا، فكان بموقع النجوم، فكان الله ينزل على رسوله بعضه إثر بعض.

Ibn Jareer narrated it in his Tafsir (24/543), Nasai in Sunan al-Kubra (11689), Ibn Dirays in "Fadail al-Quran", and Hakim (2/222), all of them through the route of Jareer, from Mansur, from Saeed bin Jubayr, from Ibn Abbas, who mentioned it. Hakim said, "Sahih according to the criteria of both of them [Bukhari and Muslim]."
