She obtained a khula divorce during the time of the Prophet ﷺ, and the Prophet ﷺ ordered her, or she was ordered, to observe a waiting period of one menstrual cycle.
أنها اختلعت على عهد النبي ﷺ: فأمرها النبي ﷺ أو أمرت أن تعتد بحيضة.
Tirmidhi (1185) narrated it from Mahmud bin Ghaylan, who said, Fadl bin Musa informed us, from Sufyan, who said, Muhammad bin Abdul-Rahman, the freedman of the family of Talha, informed us, from Sulayman bin Yasar, from Rabi, and he mentioned it. Tirmidhi said, "The sahih version of Rabi's hadith is that she was ordered to wait out one menstrual cycle as her waiting period."Bayhaqi (7/450) narrated it through the route of Fadl bin Musa with his chain in the same manner, and he also narrated it through another route from Waki, from Sufyan with his chain, where it states, "She sought khula from her husband, so she was ordered to wait out one menstrual cycle as her waiting period." Bayhaqi said, "This is more sahih, and it does not mention who gave the order, nor that it occurred during the time of the Prophet ﷺ."I say, this preference of his is made without any real basis for preference. Fadl bin Musa is a reliable and firmly established narrator, and his mention that the one who gave the order was the Prophet ﷺ, because this occurred during his time ﷺ, is an addition that must be accepted, especially since the hadith of Ubada bin Walid bin Ubada bin Samit will come confirming the correctness of this.Daraqutni preceded him in this, pointing out in Al-Ilal (15/420–421) to this discrepancy, saying, "'So she was ordered to wait out one menstrual cycle as her waiting period' is the sahih version."
