The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "He is not one of us who swears by trust, nor one who turns a man's wife or slave against him."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: ليس منا من حلف بالأمانة، ومن خبب على امرئ زوجته، أو مملوكه.
Abu Dawud (3253) and Ahmad (22980) narrated it, and Ibn Hibban (4363), Hakim (4/298), and Bayhaqi (30/10) graded it sahih, all of them from the hadith of Walid bin Thalaba Tai, from Abdullah bin Burayda, from his father, and he mentioned it.Abu Dawud confined himself to his saying, "Whoever swears by trustworthiness is not one of us," even though he had narrated it from the hadith of Zuhayr bin Muawiya, who is among those who narrated the hadith with the full wording mentioned. Bayhaqi narrated it through his route, as mentioned above. Perhaps Abu Dawud had only heard this portion from his teacher Ahmad bin Yunus, from Zuhayr bin Muawiya, which is why he included it in the Book of Oaths and Vows.Hakim said, "Its isnad is sahih." I say, it is as he said. Walid bin Thalaba was deemed trustworthy by Ibn Main and Ibn Hibban, and he is among the narrators found in the Sunan collections.On this subject there are also narrations from Ibn Umar, Ibn Abbas, and others, but the sahih one among them is the one I have mentioned.
