The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prepared Fatimah's wedding outfitting with a velvet cloth, a waterskin, and a leather cushion stuffed with idhkhir grass fibers.
جهز رسول الله ﷺ فاطمة في خميل، وقربة، ووسادة أدم، حشوها ليف الإذخر.
Nasai (3384) and Ahmad (643) both narrated it from the hadith of Abu Usama, from Zaida bin Qudama, from Ata bin Saaib, from his father, from Ali, and he mentioned it. Its chain of transmission is sahih, except that Ata bin Saaib was among those whose memory became confused in the latter part of his life. Imam Ahmad said, "He is trustworthy, a righteous man. Whoever heard from him early on, his hearing is sahih, and whoever heard a hadith from him later, his hearing is worthless." He mentioned that Shuba and Sufyan were among those who heard from him early on. More than one scholar said, "What the earlier narrators transmitted from him is sahih, such as Sufyan, Shuba, Zuhayr, Zaida, Hammad bin Zayd, and Ayub."Ibn Hajar said, "So from the sum of their statements we conclude that the hearing of Sufyan Thawri, Shuba, Zuhayr, Hammad bin Zayd, and Ayub from him is sahih, while what is beyond them remains uncertain."As for his father, he is Saaib bin Malik, Abu Yahya, also said to be Abu Kathir. Yahya bin Main, Ajli, and Ibn Hibban deemed him trustworthy. Ibn Abu Hatim said in al-Marasil (106), "My father said, Saaib bin Malik had no companionship with the Prophet," meaning the father of Ata bin Saaib.
