The Prophet ﷺ held the wedding feast for Safiyyah with sawiq and dates.
أن النبي ﷺ أولم على صفية بسويق وتمر.
Reported by Abu Dawud (3744), Tirmidhi (1095), and Ibn Majah (1909), and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih (4061), all of them from the hadith of Sufyan, from Waail bin Dawud, from his son Bakr bin Waail, from Zuhri, from Anas, and he mentioned it. Its chain is hasan because of Bakr bin Waail bin Dawud Taymi Kufi, for his hadith is hasan. Abu Hatim said, "Salih (sound)," and Nasai said, "There is no harm in him," and Ibn Hibban mentioned him in Thiqat and included him in his Sahih. Tirmidhi said, "Hasan gharib." He also said, Humaydi reported it, and it is in his Musnad (1184), from Sufyan, similar to this.More than one person reported this hadith from Ibn Uyayna, from Zuhri, from Anas, and they did not mention in it "from Waail, from his father" or "his son." He said, Sufyan bin Uyayna used to practice tadlis in this hadith, so sometimes he would not mention in it "from Waail, from his son," and sometimes he would mention it, end of quote.Sufyan himself clarified this, saying, "I heard Zuhri narrate it, but I did not memorize it, and Bakr bin Waail used to sit with Zuhri along with us." Humaydi mentioned this in his Musnad following his report from Sufyan, "Waail bin Dawud narrated to us, from his son Bakr bin Waail, from Zuhri," and he mentioned the hadith. As for Sufyan's report from Zuhri, from Anas bin Malik, Ibn Jarud reported it in Muntaqa (727), from Ibn Muqri, from Sufyan, and its narrators are trustworthy.
