The Prophet ﷺ held the wedding feast for one of his wives with two mudds of barley.
أولم النبي ﷺ على بعض نسائه بمدين من شعير.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Marriage (5172) from Muhammad bin Yusuf (that is, Firyabi), who said, Sufyan told us, from Mansur bin Safiya, from his mother Safiya bint Shayba, and he mentioned it.There is disagreement over the version from Sufyan. Firyabi narrated it from him in this way, while Abu Ahmad, that is, Muhammad bin Abdullah Zubayri, narrated it from him with an addition, mentioning Ayesha in it. Ahmad narrated it this way (24821). Both paths are sahih.Barqani said, "This hadith was narrated by Abdul-Rahman bin Mahdi, Waki, Firyabi, and Rawh bin Ubada, from Thawri, and they made it a narration from Safiya bint Shayba. Abu Ahmad Zubayri, Muammal bin Ismail, and Yahya bin Yaman narrated it from Thawri and made it from Safiya bint Shayba, from Ayesha. The first version is more sahih."Ibn Hajar said, "Those who did not mention Ayesha in it are greater in number, and more precise and more knowledgeable about the hadith of Thawri than those who added her. So what appears, based on the principles of the scholars of hadith, is that this is an instance of an addition within a continuous chain of transmission."See the detailed discussion of this in Fath al-Bari (9/238–239).
