I asked Ayesha, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, "How much was the dowry of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?"She replied, "His dowry for his wives was twelve uqiyas and a nashsh."Then she asked, "Do you know what a nashsh is?"I said, "No."She said, "It is half an uqiya, which makes a total of five hundred dirhams. This was the dowry of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for his wives."
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Marriage (1426) through Yazid bin Abdullah bin Usama bin al-Had, from Muhammad bin Ibrahim, from Abu Salama bin Abdul-Rahman, who mentioned it.His saying "nashsh" is a term for twenty dirhams, or it means half of anything.
