Umar entered upon Hafsah and said, "My dear daughter, do not be deceived by this woman whose beauty has impressed her and whom the Messenger of Allah ﷺ loves," meaning Ayesha.Hafsah recounted this to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he smiled.
أنه دخل على حفصة، فقال: يا بنية لا يغرنك هذه التي أعجبها حسنها حب رسول الله ﷺ إياها- يريد عائشة- فقصصت على رسول الله ﷺ فتبسم.
Bukhari reported it in the chapter on marriage (5218), from Abdul-Aziz bin Abdullah, who said, "Sulayman narrated to us, from Yahya, from Ubayd bin Hunayn, who heard Ibn Abbas," and he mentioned it. Muslim also reported it in the chapter on divorce (1479/31) through another route, from Sulayman bin Bilal, with his chain of transmission, at greater length.
