Regarding the verse "And if a woman fears from her husband ill treatment or neglect" [Nisa 4:128], Aisha explained, "This is about a woman married to a man who takes little pleasure in her, so he wants to divorce her and marry someone else. She says to him, 'Keep me and do not divorce me. Marry another woman if you wish, and you are free of any obligation to provide for me or to give me a share of your time.' That is what Allah Most High means by His words, 'then there is no blame upon them if they make terms of settlement between them, and settlement is better'" [Nisa 4:128].
{وإن امرأة خافت من بعلها نشوزا أو إعراضا} [النساء: ١٢٨] قالت: هي المرأة تكون عند رجل لا يستكثر منها، فيريد طلاقها، ويتزوج غيرها تقول له: أمسكني ولا تطلقني، ثم تزوج غيري فأنت في حل من النفقة علي والقسمة لي، فذلك قوله تعالى: {فلا جناح عليهما أن يصلحا بينهما صلحا والصلح خير} [سورة النساء: ١٢٨].
Bukhari, in the Book of Marriage (5206), narrated from Ibn Salam, Abu Muawiya informed us, from Hisham, from his father, from Ayesha, and he related it.Muslim also narrated it in the Book of Tafsir (3021), through two other routes from Hisham, in abridged form.
