Muaza bint Abdullah Adawiya reported,

Ayesha reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would still ask permission on the day that belonged to one of us, even after this verse was revealed, "You may put off whom you please of them, and take to yourself whom you please, and there is no blame on you if you invite one whom you had set aside" [Ahzab 33:51].I asked her, "What would you say to him?"She replied, "I used to tell him, 'If that is mine to decide, then Messenger of Allah, I do not wish to give anyone precedence over you.'"
