The Prophet ﷺ said, "If the wife of any of you asks permission to go to the mosque, he should not prevent her."In another narration, it is added that Bilal bin Abdullah said, "By Allah, we will prevent them."Abdullah turned to him and rebuked him severely, with a rebuke I had never heard him give before, and said, "I am telling you what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, and you reply, 'By Allah, we will prevent them'?"
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Marriage (5238), and Muslim in the Book of Prayer (134:442), both through the route of Ibn Uyayna, who said, "Zuhri narrated to us, he heard Salim narrating from his father," and so he related it.The addition found in Muslim's version (442:135) comes through the route of Yunus, from Ibn Shihab Zuhri, with the same chain.
