The Prophet ﷺ said, "Each of you is a shepherd, and each of you is responsible for his flock. The ruler is a shepherd, the man is a shepherd over the people of his household, and the woman is a shepherd over her husband's house and his children. So each of you is a shepherd, and each of you is responsible for his flock."
عن النبي ﷺ قال: كلكم راع وكلكم مسؤول عن رعيته، والأمير راع، والرجل راع على أهل بيته، والمرأة راعية على بيت زوجها وولده، فكلكم راع وكلكم مسؤول عن رعيته.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Marriage (5200) via Musa bin Uqba, and Muslim narrated it in the Book of Leadership (18:1829, 20) via Layth, both of them from Nafi, from Ibn Umar. Muslim added, "and the slave is a guardian over his master's wealth, and he is responsible for it."
