The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Were it not for the Children of Israil, food would not spoil and meat would not rot. And were it not for Hawwa, no woman would ever betray her husband."
عن رسول الله ﷺ قال: ولولا بنو إسرائيل لم يخبث الطعام، ولم يخنز اللحم، ولولا حواء لم تخن أنثى زوجها أبد الدهر.
Bukhari narrated it in the Chapters on the Prophets (3330), and Muslim narrated it in the Chapter on Suckling (1470:63), both of them through the route of Mamar, from Hammam bin Munabbih, who said, "This is what Abu Hurairah narrated to us from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ," and he then mentioned several hadiths, including this one. The wording given here is that of Muslim.His statement, "and the meat did not spoil," means it did not rot or change.
