A bedouin came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Messenger of Allah, my wife has given birth to a black boy on my bed, and we are a household in which there has never been anyone black."The Prophet ﷺ asked, "Do you have any camels?"The man replied, "Yes."He asked, "What are their colors?"The man said, "Red."He asked, "Is there a black one among them?"The man said, "No."He asked, "Is there a dusky one among them?"The man said, "Yes."He asked, "Where do you think that came from?"The man said, "Perhaps a distant ancestral strain drew it out."The Prophet ﷺ said, "Then perhaps a distant ancestral strain has drawn out this trait in your son."
أن رجلا من أهل البادية أتى النبي ﷺ فقال: يا رسول الله! إن امرأتي ولدت على فراشي غلاما أسود، وإنا أهل بيت لم يكن فينا أسود قط. قال: هل لك من إبل؟ قال: نعم، قال: فما ألوانها؟ قال: حمر، قال: هل فيها أسود؟ قال: لا، قال: فيها أورق؟ قال: نعم، قال: فأنى كان ذلك؟ قال: عسى أن يكون نزعه عرق قال: فلعل ابنك هذا نزعه عرق
Ibn Majah (2003) narrated it from Abu Kurayb, who said, Ubadah bin Kulayb Al-Laythi Abu Ghassan narrated to us, from Juwayria bin Asma, from Nafi, from Ibn Umar, and he mentioned it. The scholars differed regarding Ubadah bin Kulayb. Abu Hatim said, "He came to Rayy, and the people of Rayy wrote from him. He is truthful, but there is something objectionable in his hadith." Bukhari included him in his book on the daif narrators, and Abu Hatim said, "He should be moved from here." Aqeeli mentioned him in his book on the daif narrators, saying, "His hadith is not corroborated."The summary of the matter regarding him is that there is no harm in him as a supporting witness, but if he is the sole narrator of a hadith, it is not accepted.
