A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "I have grown fond of a woman of noble lineage and beauty, but she is barren. Shall I marry her?"He said, "No."The man came to him a second time, and he forbade him again. Then he came to him a third time, and he said, "Marry the loving and fertile, for I shall take pride in your numbers before the other nations."
جاء رجل إلى النبي ﷺ فقال: إني أحببت امرأة ذات حسب وجمال إلا إنها لا تلد أفأتزوجها؟ قال: لا ثم أتاه الثانية، فنهاه، ثم أتاه الثالثة، فقال: تزوجوا الودود الولود، فإني مكاثر بكم.
Abu Dawud (2050) and Nasai (3227) both reported it from the hadith of Yazid bin Harun, who said, Mustalim bin Saeed - the nephew of Mansur bin Rathan - informed us, from Mansur, meaning - Ibn Rathan - from Muawiya bin Qurra, from Maqil bin Yasar, and he mentioned it.Ibn Hibban (4056) and Hakim (2/162) reported it through this same route, and Hakim said, "Its isnad is sahih." Its isnad is hasan on account of Mustalim bin Saeed, for his hadith is hasan.
