Ayesha reported,

Ayesha reported that she purchased Barirah from some people of the Ansar, and they stipulated that the right of inheritance from her freed-slave status would remain with them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The right of wala belongs to the one who grants the favor of emancipation."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave her the choice regarding her marriage, and her husband at the time was a slave.Barirah once gave Ayesha some meat as a gift, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If only you had prepared some of this meat for us."Ayesha replied, "It was given to Barirah as charity."He said, "It is charity for her, but a gift to us."
