I fell ill and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and Abu Bakr came to visit me on foot. When they reached me, I had lost consciousness. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed ablution and poured the water from his ablution over me, and I regained consciousness.I said, "Messenger of Allah, what should I do with my wealth? How should I dispose of my property?"He gave me no reply until the verse of inheritance was revealed.
مرضت فعادني رسول الله ﷺ، وأبو بكر، وهما ماشيان، فأتاني، وقد أغمي علي، فتوضأ رسول الله ﷺ، فصب علي وضوءه. فأفقت، فقلت: يا رسول الله، كيف أصنع في مالي؟ كيف أقضي في مالي؟ فلم يجبني بشيء حتى نزلت آية الميراث.
Bukhari narrated it in "The Book of Inheritance" (6723), and Muslim in "The Book of Inheritance" (1616), both from the hadith of Sufyan, from Muhammad bin Munkadir, who heard Jabir bin Abdullah, and he related it.
