I entered upon Ayesha while she was wearing a Qatari shift worth five dirhams. She said, "Lift your gaze to my slave girl and look at her, for she refuses out of pride to wear it in the house. I had one of these shifts in the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and there was not a woman in Medina being adorned as a bride except that she sent to me to borrow it."
دخلت على عائشة وعليها درع قطر، ثمن خمسة دراهم. فقالت: ارفع بصرك إلى جاريتي، انظر إليها فإنها تزهى أن تلبسه في البيت، وقد كان لي منهن درع على عهد رسول الله ﷺ، فما كانت امرأة تقين بالمدينة إلا أرسلت إلي تستعيره.
Bukhari related it in the Book of Gifts (2628) from Abu Naeem, who said, "Abdul-Wahid bin Ayman narrated to us, my father narrated to me, saying, 'I entered upon Ayesha,'" and he mentioned the rest of the account."Al-bina" refers to the wedding celebration. It was called "bina" because they used to build a canopy for the one getting married, in which he would be alone with the woman.His saying "tuzha" means when arrogance enters into someone.His saying "tuqayyan" means "adorned," from the root "qana" which means to fix or improve something.This hadith shows that lending garments to a bride is an established and encouraged practice, and it is not considered something objectionable.
