The Prophet ﷺ said, "There is no jalab, no janab, and no shighar in Islam. Whoever seizes plunder is not one of us."
عن النبي ﷺ قال: لا جلب، ولا جنب، ولا شغار في الإسلام. ومن انتهب نهبة فليس منا.
Abu Dawud (2581), Tirmidhi (1123), Nasai (6/111), and Ibn Majah (3937) narrated it, Ibn Hibban graded it sahih (3267, 5170), and Ahmad (19946) narrated it as well, all of them transmitting the hadith of Humayd Tawil, from Hasan, from Imran bin Husayn, who then related it, though some of them abridged it. Tirmidhi said, "hasan sahih."I say, Hasan is in the chain, and he is the well-known imam, but he was known to conceal his sources in transmission. There is disagreement over whether he actually heard from Imran bin Husayn. Ali bin Madini denied that he did, while Bahz bin Assad affirmed it. Ibn Hibban's inclusion of this hadith in his Sahih suggests that he considered him to have heard from him, because Ibn Hibban stated clearly in the introduction to his book, "When a report is confirmed sound to me and it is narrated by a concealer of sources who elsewhere made clear that he actually heard it, I do not mind mentioning it without stating that clarification in this particular report, once its soundness has been established for me through another route" (1/162).Perhaps it is by this very route that Tabarani narrated in Kabir (18/219) and Marwazi in Tazim Qadr al-Salah (1081), both of them through Muhammad bin Bashshar, with Marwazi pairing him with Muhammad bin Yahya, both saying, Muhammad bin Abdullah Ansari narrated to us, saying, Sarad bin Abu Manazil narrated to us, saying, I heard Habib bin Abu Fadala Maliki say, when this masjid, the congregational masjid, was built, and Imran bin Husayn was sitting there. They mentioned intercession in his presence, so a man among the group said, "O Abu Nujayd, you tell us hadiths for which we find no basis in the Quran." Imran became angry and said to the man, "Have you read the Quran?" He said, "Yes." Imran said, "Did you find in it that the Maghrib prayer has three units?" and he went on to mention other matters, among them the hadith already mentioned.Sarad bin Abu Manazil and his teacher Habib bin Abu Fadala pose no problem when relied upon for corroboration.Ibn Hajar said in Nukat Ziraf (8/173), "It has a corroborating witness in Mustadrak of Hakim, through the route of Uqba bin Khalid, from Imran, and Habib's account is more complete." That is what he said, but the correct chain is, from Uqba bin Khalid, from Hasan, from Imran bin Husayn, as it appears in Mustadrak (1/109).By combining all these routes, this hadith is established as sahih.
