He reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A Muslim is the brother of another Muslim. He does not wrong him, nor does he abandon him. Whoever attends to the need of his brother, Allah will attend to his need. Whoever relieves a Muslim of a hardship, Allah will relieve him of one of the hardships of the Day of Resurrection. Whoever conceals the faults of a Muslim, Allah will conceal his faults on the Day of Resurrection."
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Injustices (2442), and Muslim in Righteousness and Maintaining Ties (2580), both from the hadith of Layth, from Aqeel, from Ibn Shihab, that Salim informed him that Abdullah bin Umar said, and then he mentioned it.It has also been narrated from Ibn Umar as a marfu report, "The Muslim is the brother of the Muslim. He does not wrong him, nor does he abandon him. By Him in whose hand Muhammad's soul rests, no two people form a bond of love and then have it broken between them except through a sin one of them commits."And he used to say, "The Muslim owes his brother six acts of kindness. He says 'may Allah have mercy on you' to him when he sneezes, visits him when he is sick, advises him with sincerity when he is absent, attends and greets him with peace when he meets him, answers him when he invites him, and follows his funeral when he dies. And it is forbidden for a Muslim to shun his brother for more than three days."Ahmad narrated it (5357) from Musa bin Dawud, who said, Ibn Lahia narrated to us, from Khalid bin Abu Imran, from Nafi, from Ibn Umar, and then he mentioned it.Ibn Lahia has poor memory, but the individual segments of the hadith have sahih corroborating evidence mentioned in their respective places, and it may be for this reason that Munziri graded it hasan in Targheeb (3405).
