The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever wrongfully takes even a hand-span of land will have it placed around his neck from seven earths."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: من ظلم قيد شبر من الأرض طوقه من سبع أرضين.
Bukhari reported it in the Book of Injustices (2453), and Muslim in the Book of Sharecropping (1612), both from the hadith of Yahya bin Abu Kathir, who said, Muhammad bin Ibrahim narrated to me that Abu Salama told him that he had a dispute with some people, and he mentioned this to Ayesha. She said, "O Abu Salama, avoid the land, for the Prophet ﷺ said," and she related the hadith.
