A man from the Kilab tribe asked the Prophet ﷺ about the fee taken for stud service from a male animal, and he forbade it.The man said, "Messenger of Allah, we lend out our stud, and we are given a gift in return."So he permitted him to accept the gift.
أن رجلا من كلاب سأل النبي ﷺ عن عسب الفحل، فنهاه، فقال: يا رسول الله، إنا نطرق الفحل فنكرم، فرخص له في الكرامة.
Tirmidhi (1274), Nasai (4672), and Bayhaqi (5/339) all narrated it from the hadith of Ibrahim bin Humayd Ruasi, who said, "Hisham bin Urwa narrated to us, from Muhammad bin Ibrahim Taymi, from Anas bin Malik," and he related it. Tirmidhi said, "This is a hasan gharib hadith, we do not know it except from the hadith of Ibrahim bin Humayd, from Hisham bin Urwa."I say, rather it has also been narrated through other routes besides Ibrahim bin Humayd, except that this chain is the most sahih of those through which this hadith has been narrated. Its chain of transmission is sahih.
