The Prophet ﷺ said, "When a person is dying, the angels come to him. If the man is righteous, they say, 'Come out, you good soul that was in a good body...'"In another narration, "When the believer is about to die, the angels of mercy come to him with white silk and say, 'Come out to the mercy of Allah.' So it comes out like the sweetest fragrance of musk, and they pass it from one to another, smelling it, until they bring it to the gate of heaven...As for the disbeliever, the angels of punishment come to him with sackcloth and say, 'Come out to the wrath of Allah.' So it comes out like the foulest stench of a corpse, and they take it to the gate of the earth."
Ibn Majah (4262) narrated it from Abu Bakr bin Abu Shayba, who said, Shababa narrated to us, from Ibn Abu Dhib, from Muhammad bin Amr bin Ata, from Saeed bin Yasar, from Abu Hurairah, within a lengthy account that will come later in the Book of Funerals. The second narration was recorded by Nasai (1833), and Ibn Hibban (3014) and Hakim (1/352) both graded it sahih, all of them from another route from Abu Hurairah.
