I was with the Prophet ﷺ when an Arabi said, "Repay me my young camel."The Prophet ﷺ gave him an older camel.The Arabi said, "Messenger of Allah, this one is older than my camel."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "The best of people is the one who is best in repaying debts."
كنت عند النبي ﷺ، فقال أعرابي: اقضني بكري، فأعطاه بعيرا مسنا، فقال الأعرابي: يا رسول الله، هذا أسن من بعيري، فقال رسول الله ﷺ: خير الناس خيرهم قضاء.
Narrated by Nasai (4619), Ibn Majah (2286), Ahmad (17149), Hakim (2/30), and Bayhaqi (5/351), all of them through Muawiya bin Salih, who said, Saeed bin Hani told me, saying, I heard Irbaz bin Sariya, and he related it.Hakim said, "This is a hadith with a sahih chain, though the two of them [Bukhari and Muslim] did not narrate it in this wording."I say, its chain is hasan on account of Muawiya bin Salih, who is the son of Hudayr in the diminutive form, for he is hasan al-hadith.
