The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not forbid sharecropping, but rather he instructed that people deal kindly with one another.
أن رسول الله ﷺ لم يحرم المزارعة، ولكن أمر أن يرفق بعضهم بعضا.
Tirmidhi (1385) narrated it from Mahmud bin Ghaylan, who said, Fadl bin Musa Shaybani informed us, from Sharik, from Shubah, from Amr bin Dinar, from Tawus, from Ibn Abbas, and he related it.Muslim (1550:000) also narrated it from Fadl bin Musa, from Sharik, from Shubah, from Amr bin Dinar, from Tawus, from Ibn Abbas, from the Prophet ﷺ, similar to their hadith, but he did not state the wording of the hadith. Sharik was corroborated in the earlier chains that Muslim mentioned, and this chain was joined to them.Tirmidhi said, "This is a hasan sahih hadith. The hadith of Rafi contains some confusion. This hadith is narrated from Rafi bin Khadij from his paternal uncles, and it is also narrated from him from Zahir bin Rafi, who is one of his paternal uncles, and this hadith has been narrated from him in different versions."
