Ibn Umar used to rent out his land. Then he was informed of a hadith from Rafi bin Khadij, so he took me along with him to visit Rafi.Rafi mentioned a report from one of his uncles, in which it was stated that the Prophet ﷺ had forbidden Kira Ard.So Ibn Umar abandoned the practice and stopped renting out his land.
Muslim (1547:111) narrated it from Muhammad bin Muthanna, who said, Husayn told us (meaning Ibn Hasan bin Yasar), who said, Ibn Awn told us, from Nafi, from Ibn Umar, and he mentioned it.I say, his abandoning it was a matter of preference, not prohibition, and this is supported by the statement of Ibn Abbas, as will come later.
