A woman came with a burdah. The narrator asked, "Do you know what a burdah is?"It was said to him, "Yes, it is a woven shawl with a fringed border."She said, "Messenger of Allah, I wove this with my own hands to clothe you in it."The Prophet ﷺ took it, being in need of it, and came out to us wearing it as his lower garment. A man from the gathering said, "Messenger of Allah, give it to me to wear."He replied, "Yes."The Prophet ﷺ sat in the gathering, then went back, folded it, and sent it to the man.The people said to him, "You did not do well to ask him for it. You knew that he never turns away anyone who asks."The man replied, "By Allah, I only asked him for it so it could be my burial shroud the day I die."Sahl said, "And indeed it became his shroud."
