Abu Dawud (4727) narrated it from Ahmad bin Hafs bin Abdullah, who said, "My father told me, 'Ibrahim bin Tahman told me, from Musa bin Uqba, from Muhammad bin Munkadir, from Jabir bin Abdullah,'" and then he related the hadith. Its isnad is sahih. Dhahabi also graded it sahih in Uluww (213). Hafiz said in Fath al-Bari (8/665), "Its isnad meets the criteria of sahih."Tabarani also narrated it in Awsat, in Majma Bahrain (68), through this same route, except that he said in it, "a journey of seventy years." That is why Haythami mentioned it in Majma (1/80) and said, "Its narrators are the narrators of sahih." I say, perhaps Tabarani's teacher, who is Abdullah bin Abbas Tayalisi, who is trustworthy as noted in Tarikh Baghdad (10/36), confused "seven hundred" with "seventy years." Or perhaps he simply did not preserve the exact wording of the hadith, for Abu Shaykh narrated it in Azamah (476) through his route and said in it, "a journey of five hundred years, or he said, fifty years." The correct version is what Abu Dawud mentioned, because in all the hadith sources it reads "seven hundred years."It was likewise narrated from Anas bin Malik, as a daif corroborating narration, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I have been permitted to speak about an angel among the bearers of the Throne, whose feet are on the lowest earth and upon whose head rests the Throne, and between the lobe of his ear and his shoulder is a distance equal to the flight of a bird for seven hundred years. That angel says, 'Glory be to You wherever You are.'"Tabarani related it in Awsat, in Majma Bahrain (67), from Muhammad bin Dawud bin Aslam, who said, Ubaydullah bin Abdullah bin Munkadir bin Muhammad bin Munkadir told us, who said, my father told me, from his father, from his grandfather Muhammad bin Munkadir, from Anas bin Malik, and he related it. Tabarani said, "No one narrated it from Muhammad bin Munkadir, from Anas, except his son Munkadir. His son alone transmitted it from him. Ibrahim bin Tahman narrated it from Musa bin Uqba, from Muhammad bin Munkadir, from Jabir." Haythami said in Majma (1/80), "Abdullah bin Munkadir and his father are both daif."It was also narrated from Anas bin Malik with another isnad, even weaker than this one, attributed to the Prophet, "I have been commanded to speak about an angel in the heavens, the distance between his shoulder and the top of his head being like the flight of an angel for seven hundred years, and he does not know where his Lord is. So glory be to Him." Abu Shaykh narrated it in Azamah (518) through the route of Muhammad bin Ishaq, from Fadl bin Isa, from his uncle Yazid bin Aban Raqashi, from Anas bin Malik, and he related it. In it are Fadl bin Isa and his uncle Yazid bin Aban, both daif. Dhahabi mentioned it in Uluww (214) through this same route and said, "Its isnad is very weak."
