The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Allah forgave a man who lived before you. He was lenient when he sold, lenient when he bought, and lenient when he collected what was owed to him."
قال رسول الله ﷺ غفر الله لرجل كان قبلكم كان سهلا إذا باع، وسهلا إذا اشترى، وسهلا إذا اقتضى.
Tirmidhi (1320) narrated it from Abbas Duri, who said, "Abdul-Wahhab bin Ata narrated to us, Israil informed us, from Zayd bin Ata bin Saaib, from Muhammad bin Munkadir, from Jabir," and he mentioned it. Tirmidhi said, "A sahih hasan hadith, gharib from this angle."I say, it contains Zayd bin Ata bin Saaib, who is the Thaqafi, the Kufan. A number of narrators reported from him, but no one deemed him trustworthy except Ibn Hibban, because he was not well known, as Abu Hatim said. That is why Hafiz said in Taqrib, "Acceptable," meaning when corroborated, and he was in fact corroborated in the preceding hadith.Bayhaqi pointed to this in Sughra, after having narrated the hadith through the path of Abdul-Wahhab bin Ata, saying, "Abu Ghassan also narrated it, from Muhammad bin Munkadir."
