Najiyah reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to send sacrificial camels with him, instructing him, "If any of them is about to perish and you fear it will die, slaughter it, then dip its sandal in its blood and strike its side with it. But do not eat from it yourself, nor let anyone from your traveling companions eat from it."
Muslim narrated it in the book of Hajj (1326) from Abu Ghassan Musmai, who said, Abdul-Ala narrated to us, who said, Saeed (that is, Ibn Abu Aruba) narrated to us, from Qatada, from Sinan bin Salama, from Ibn Abbas, that Dhuayb Abu Qabisa narrated it to him, and he related it.
